Ode to Gertie

Gray haired and joyful
ol' lady who's loved
At eighty-two years
has gone up above

Six children left here
and a slewful of grand
she lived her life well
before she left this land

She's made a great
impression on us all
and we all wished
her passing could be stalled

Thoughts of Gertie
bring both joy and pain
at the happy memories
and, that they won't happen again

But she's gone on
somewhere better than here
where joy is endless
and there are no tears

I miss you, Gramma
and I want to say
that I wish to be
just like you, someday

Gertrude Margaret Gersky left this world and entered the gates of heaven on the birthday of Our Lord, Jesus Chirst in in the year of 2001.

We love and miss you, Gramma
